Meet Elizabeth (Liz) Reynolds

MA, NCC, LPC: Psychotherapist & Certified School Counselor

Liz Reynolds is an experienced therapist who envisions a world where every individual is recognized and celebrated for their uniqueness and that their voice and actions hold profound significance. Her mission is to empower her clients, helping them realize their profound impact on the world.

Through her many years of working with clients, she has become well-versed in reducing anxiety using a variety of modalities, with a particular focus on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Liz’s expertise also includes skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal relationships.

Liz’s personality can be described as warm, compassionate, and gentle, which is evident in the calming presence she creates. She knows how to use humor when appropriate to create a supportive and engaging therapeutic environment.

What Sets Liz Apart

A noteworthy aspect of Liz’s practice is her incorporation of Animal Assisted Therapy. Scientific research indicates that animals can have a soothing impact on individuals, leading to the natural reduction of heart rate and blood pressure and an increase in feelings of well-being and acceptance. Interacting with animals often results in elevated levels of mood-enhancing neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and oxytocin, promoting an overall sense of happiness and well-being.

Onyx and Demi, Liz’s emotional support dogs, possess a remarkable intuition and deep connection to emotions. They instinctively gravitate toward clients in need of reassurance and compassion, bringing a calming and joyful presence to the therapeutic environment.

Not only is she a hands-on therapist, Liz is also a dedicated volunteer for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. Her family fosters brood dogs, participates in home socialization, and prepares puppies for the real world.

Background

Liz holds a Master of Arts in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC).

With over two decades of experience as a school counselor in public education, Liz possesses extensive expertise in guiding students through the educational system and advocating for the unique needs of each child.

Moving into private practice was a seamless continuation of Liz’s experience of working with children in the school environment. She values the chance to explore issues beyond academics in greater depth and finds fulfillment in the collaborative approach when assisting families in addressing challenges.

Clients Liz Serves

As a diverse therapist, her clients vary in age. She works with children as young as five as well as clients ranging from high school to young adults. Her primary focus has been on adolescents and early teens, but she welcomes and enjoys older clients’ perspectives and reasoning abilities.
