FAQ’s
Main Street Counseling
Do you offer telehealth therapy services?
Yes, we offer telehealth therapy services, allowing you to connect with your therapist remotely via HIPAA compliant video conferencing or phone calls. This option provides flexibility and convenience for those unable to attend in-person sessions.
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
During your initial therapy session, you can expect to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals. Your therapist will ask questions to understand your background and current challenges. It’s a safe and confidential space for you to share, and you’ll collaboratively create a plan for your therapeutic journey.
Do you have someone who prescribes medication in your office?
At this time, we do not have a prescribing physician on staff. We do however have a list of providers that other clients have used and are happy to share those contacts with you.
How long is each therapy session?
Sessions are scheduled for 30, 45 or 60 minutes depending on your treatment plan agreed upon between you and your therapist.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy sessions are confidential. Your therapist will provide you with details about the limits of confidentiality, which typically include situations where there may be a risk to your own safety or the safety of others. Rest assured, your privacy is a priority.
Do you offer therapy for specific issues like addiction or trauma?
Our therapists specialize in a wide range of issues, including addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, and more. We have therapists with specific certifications and expertise in these areas to provide targeted support. During your initial consultation, we’ll match you with a therapist who can address your particular concerns.
What locations do we service?
We are licensed by the State of Connecticut to provide therapeutic services to anyone within the Connecticut state borders.
Do you participate with my job’s EAP?
An EAP (Employee Assistance Program) is a workplace service that helps employees, and often their families, cope with a crisis or other stress-related situation. Companies and insurance companies often outsource these services to a third party professional in lieu of members using their Behavioral Health Coverage.
Over the years we have found participation with EAPs to be very limiting, therefore we do not participate with these programs.
How do I choose the right therapist for my needs?
Finding the right therapist is a crucial step in your therapeutic journey. We recommend starting with a free consultation with one of our intake coordinators, who can match you with a therapist based on your specific needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals.
What age groups do you provide therapy for?
We offer therapy services for individuals of all ages, from children and adolescents to adults and seniors. Our therapists are experienced in tailoring their approach to meet the unique needs of each age group, ensuring that everyone receives the appropriate care and support.
How long will therapy last?
The duration of therapy varies depending on your unique needs and goals. Some individuals benefit from short-term, solution-focused therapy, while others may engage in longer-term therapy. Your therapist will work with you to establish a treatment plan and determine the appropriate duration based on your progress and objectives.
How much do I pay for therapy?
If you have insurance, you can check with your insurance plan by calling the number on the back of your card. They will be able to tell you what your out of pocket cost will be (co-pays, deductibles, etc.).
You are out of network for my insurance company. Can you help me submit the claims?
Most of our providers are in-network providers for Anthem, Cigna and Husky. For all other insurance companies, we are considered out of network providers, which means we are not connected to that particular insurance carrier.
In the case of out of network claims, as a courtesy, we would be happy to help you submit claims. Full payment is expected at the time of the session. We will then provide you with a Superbill – a specific document required by your insurance company – which you can submit and may be reimbursed for some of the costs you paid out of pocket.
I am allergic and/or do not feel comfortable around dogs. Can I still work with Liz Reynolds?
Absolutely! Liz is able to offer telehealth to best meet your needs.
