Meet Tara Beall-Gomes,
Owner of Main Street Counseling
As a competitive debater in both high school and college, I had the privilege of engaging with people from all over the world. I quickly learned that I had a passion for learning the art of communicating with intention and connecting with people from all walks of life. The dream to pursue a career in the field of Mental Health was nudged during my teenage years when I was gifted a copy of Montel Williams’ memoir. I had a Gestalt and knew I was destined to be a talk show host! As a double major in Mass Communications and Media Technologies and Psychology and Minor in Women’s Studies from King’s College, I entered the media field in various roles at a few television stations. After a brief play in the field of public relations, I felt unfulfilled. Something big was missing. I left my PR job to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counselor Education at Fairfield University. I worked in the public school system beginning as a substitute teacher and eventually as a school counselor for 17 years before eventually establishing my own counseling practice called Main Street Counseling.
